The Vancouver Pipe Club
"A pipe is the fountain of contemplation, the source of pleasure, the companion of the wise; and the man who smokes, thinks like a philosopher and acts like a Samaritan."
Welcome to the home site of The Vancouver Pipe Club. We are a very diverse group, of all ages, 19 and older, novice and experienced pipe smokers, with a common interest in fine pipes and tobaccos. Our meetings are all about fellowship, sharing knowledge and samplings. Please check the Events and News section of the site for meeting locations, dates and times. I had always had a vision of a pipe club in Vancouver and as I now had time since retirement to devote to the project, in 2004 I contacted a well known individual in the world of pipes and a local, Mike Glukler about the idea. Mike was instrumental in providing me a list of people who were knowledgeable and active in the world of pipes. The response was encouraging. We had our first meeting of the founding members, Bas, Steve Laug, Stephen Downie, Trevor, Dave S, Mark L, and my brother Don. (I still have the original sign up list which will go into the club archives). From the efforts of these founders, we developed the foundation of the Vancouver Pipe Club which has grown to a world wide recognized club. Local merchants, in particular R J Clarke Tobacconists and City Cigar as well as Mike Glukler have been instrumental to the support of the club as well as our club benefactor Ron M. We pride ourselves in the diversity of members, from those with years of experience to those beginning to learn of our noble hobby. The fellowship of brothers and sisters of briar is alive and well in Vancouver.
